In the workshop ”Devising a tale: co-creating a story performance” we will work on a story together, creating a performance draft from scratch. Using a text as a framework we will produce the other elements of a storytelling performance by doing, for example,  easy movement and voice improvisations, creative writing and image making.

Due to the limited time frame Carla-Rose will bring the story and have a proposal for a ”tool kit” used for co-creating the performance. The group will, however, choose which tools and which elements to use. We won’t be so much focused on the finished product as we are on the process of discovery through different artistic mediums and exercises. The workshop aims to offer new tools and fresh approaches to storytelling and performing. And we will, hopefully, also experience the joy and fun of creating something together!

The language of tuition will be English but Swedish/skandinaviska can also be used. The workshop is meant for anyone interested in storytelling regardless of previous experience.

Carla-Rose Häkkinen is a speech and drama artist and teacher focused on storytelling. She likes to create storytelling performances in which dramatic elements, music and bodily movement also play an important part. Working with images, both inwardly and outwardly, is for her an important stage in the creative process. Besides working with folk tales and literary stories, recently she has gained more experience also in telling stories from her own life. She is actively engaged in Story Sharing Universum, a story sharing project for asylum seekers and immigrants. Carla-Rose has an MA in English and a training in speech and drama pedagogy and art from antroposophical Snellman College, Helsinki, Finland.
